Organizational Announcement - Shaw Renewables

After much consideration, Rene Landry, General Manager of Shaw Renewables has made the decision to announce his retirement from The Shaw Group, on April 30, 2025.

Over the last 10+ years, Rene has grown Eastern Embers annual production from 25 tons per year into a production facility capable of 40 tons per year through new upgrades, process improvements and moving to a 24/7 operation. Rene has been a trusted supplier to Shaw's largest customers, including Drax Energy in the UK and CM Biomass with bases around the globe, due to his focus on providing high quality pellets, reliability, open communication and a willingness to assist Drax and others with new initiatives such as wood fiber sustainability. He has made a significant impact on the wood pellet industry in the role of President of the Wood Pellet Association of Canada and has been one of their leading board members for many years. Rene has also been very actively involved locally in the industry with governments, sawmills and other stakeholders in these industries throughout his career.

The entire Shaw Group team wants to thank Rene for his contributions to The Shaw Group, Shaw Renewables and the shareholder group, and wish him all the best in his well-earned retirement.

We are also pleased to announce that Fenton Travis will join us on November 18, 2024 to replace Rene as General Manager of Shaw Renewables. Fenton is based in Fredericton, NB and comes to us with over 21 years of experience in the forestry and renewable energy sectors with skills in engineering, project management, and finance. Fenton has spent the last 12+ years with Northern Energy Solutions Inc., with his most recent role as Vice President and Owner, Acquisition of Biofuels Plants, North America. Fenton has his Master's Certificate in Project Management from the Schulich School of Business, York University (via UNB), a Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Diploma in Technology Management from UNB.
